My goal is to show you that divine order and the peace of God are synonymous.
Concerned with my mother's dire health situation, God taught me about peace. I would like to share it with you now. For three weeks we endured. It wasn't easy in that hospital room, but guess what, we won! The peace of God carried us throughout this attack of sickness against my mother.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid (John 14:27).
First, God's peace is more than a tranquil feeling, an inner stillness, a calm or a rest of the soul. That's part of it, but it's much more.
When Jesus said, "My peace I leave with you", He meant everything He came to accomplish in doing the Father's will, and all the blessing that brings. He gave His peace to keep you strong, to enable you to bear fruit for God's Kingdom. We're thankful to God that Jesus gave us His peace, but we must learn to walk in it.
Without God's peace we are unable to think clear and function. We need the peace of God to face the darkness of this world. Outside of the peace of God, there's chaos, confusion, and strife.
False Peace
Man-made peace does not last.
In man-made authority structures you will hear frequent mentions of divine order. Those who sit in the proverbial "Seat of Moses" reiterate how important it is for you to submit to them. They say, for you to benefit from the anointing and grace on their lives, you must submit. They take liberties making strong claims that God appointed them to have rule over you for your benefit. How convenient? You must come under their spiritual covering is one of those claims. But it's a false doctrine, that brings false peace. God through Christ is your covering..
Such teachings are nothing more than fear tactics. They want to keep church attendance high, and the tithes checks rolling in. This motivation is wrong and leads to spiritual abuse and control.
Whether Paul said it or not is not the final answer. The apostle Paul is not our savior. He would never contradict Christ. To remain on a firm foundation we should always compare his writings with Jesus' Words in the Gospels. Since Jesus is Lord, He has the final word, not our religious dogmas. So what did Jesus say?
But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant” (Matthew 20:25-26, Luke 22:25-27).
May I suggest that, "It shall not be so among you...," is still a commandment of the Lord today.
"We are not great by ruling over others, we are great by serving one another."
Enter God's Divine Order
Where the peace of God is not present, there is no divine order. But how does the peace of God come? How does divine order come?
Jesus taught us to pray, "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven."
When and where the will of God is obeyed, His divine order gets established there and then. God's will is obeying His Son Jesus Christ, not man's assumed governance over another.
I am sure you've experienced it. The unspeakable joy and the peace surpassing all understanding, that obedience to His will brings. Think of it, a peace that's beyond the realm of comprehension. A peace so strong, stronger than any storm in your life. That is the place of true divine order.
Man-made order does not and I emphasize "cannot" bring the peace of God, therefore it cannot be divine order, although those who enforce it present it as such.
While man-made order holds many accountable, it falls short. There is much controlling abuse involved with it. Its strength lies in the demands of compliance to a hierarchy instead of submission to God.
In contrast, God's divine order is submission to one another within the Body of Christ; Submission to His Son Jesus, to His Word (commandments), and to His Holy Spirit.
What about leaders and elders?
The members of the Body of Christ are to discern those who say they have a gift or word from God. They should examine them based on fruits of character, and then after that, willingly receive the gift God gave them to share. (1 John 4:1)
As a caution, when those who have been received demand submission to them as a prerequisite to partake in the gift; when they draw disciples after themselves; insist on loyalty to them as preeminent bishops; and establish authority structures within the Body of Christ, then it has become man's order instead of God's divine order.
Again, the peace of God is beyond the realm that man's natural understanding can grasp, yet it is that which keeps our hearts and minds through difficult times. That is the peace our LORD Jesus gave us.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
As part of the Body of Christ you are called to the peace of God, and that peace should govern you.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful (Colossians 3:15).
Peace by definition means order. World Peace means World Order and the Peace of God is God's divine order. Choose which you want to rule over your mind.
How Divine Order Comes
God's Divine Order comes when everything functions as God intended, according to His will. This is the true meaning of "Good" in the book of Genesis. After each day as God finished a part of His creation the Scriptures say, "God saw [that it was] good." In Hebrew that means, it's functioning properly according to His will. Thus, if a person or a thing is not functioning according to God's will, how can that be good? It cannot be called good because it doesn't bring forth the peace of God.
Divine order is not about being in compliance with and under subjection to a presumed hierarchy of authority. Far more, it is the result of doing the will of God, including obeying the specific purpose assigned to you by God.
When you walk in this peace of God, doubt not whether you're in divine order. When His Peace is there, His divine order is there. You don't have to be afraid, you can function properly in faith and obedience to Him, even while a storm is raging around you. So, peace, be still and know that He is God.
