Elijah came on the scene in a time when God’s people had broken their covenant with the LORD. The LORD God oftentimes will use an unknown to release the Word of the Lord to a nation to turn their hearts back to Him. God is a faithful and merciful God. He gives all of us a space and a time to repent. God is also long-suffering, that means He endures a lot of sin against Him from nations. He will give the world many opportunities to come to repentance. The nations of this world have had thousands of merciful opportunities to turn towards God in repentance. Time is running out.
Not only nations, but the people of God are also responsible to walk in God’s ways and truth.
The servants of the Lord are accountable to train and equip God’s people to serve Him. If the Church is not in its rightful place in culture and society then sin and wickedness will be pervasive in a nation. As result, the next generation to follow will not know God to worship Him.
Those who walk in the spirit and power of Elijah are concerned about the spiritual condition of a nation. God calls them to turn the tide and hearts back to God.
Elijah confronted Ahab, the king of Israel. He confronted the false priests and prophets of Jezebel that led the people astray. Elijah restored the altar of God again. This is what needs to happen in every nation. God has Elijahs in every nation, who love God and His Church. They are willing to risk their lives to restore our covenant with God and rebuild the altar of prayer to God in a nation again.
It begins in you, in your home, and in your church. Then we can take and change a nation.
